If there is one thing we can take away from the latest federal budget, it is that the government continues to prioritize our aging population over adapting to new problems facing younger Canada.

No one ever lost in politics by being underestimated, and that鈥檚 very much the case with Justin Trudeau.

Balancing a budget is one thing, for which credit was bestowed in this space on Wednesday. Maintaining the impression that the government is doing everything that needs doing while staying in the black is another.

I heard this while eavesdropping (the kind of eavesdropping where people are near you and their voices are crystal clear). The conversation went something like this. 鈥淚 bought this jacket at Mec.鈥� 鈥淢ec? What鈥檚 Mec? You mean M.E.C.

You can apply all sorts objective (benchmark processor speeds) or subjective ("it just feels better") arguments to the great smartphone debate.

British Columbians should give Tuesday鈥檚 provincial budget a quick once over, and then give themselves a quiet pat on the back. There are still holes in the government鈥檚 vision of how this corner of the world works, undeniably.

So this is how it works. A distinguished former general from a prominent military family, having retired after a career in war and peace, wants to continue to serve his country. For his sins, he decides to enter politics.

Having read the articles on parking for the downtown (鈥淧arking plan 鈥榟ijacked鈥� by cash claims,鈥� Feb. 14.), I consider the recommendations by parking staff a bad idea, and even more so since reading some of the councillors鈥� comments.

The old tube TV was mostly still OK, but its picture was getting fuzzy. And we had bought an HD cable TV box with recording capability, so we could see the high definition channels, the ones with the wider picture.

Children are amazing! It鈥檚 easy to see them expressing imagination, curiosity, innocence, spontaneity, thoughtfulness, honesty, and unconditional love.
