You can apply all sorts objective (benchmark processor speeds) or subjective ("it just feels better") arguments to the great smartphone debate.
But I have a black-white-reason why I like iPhones (and iPads for that matter) far more than any Android phone on the market: more people use them to read our website.
And not just a few more. Vastly more. Hugely more. A lot.
Looking back at the past 30 days of visits to our website reveals just how many Times 91原创 readers prefer Apple devices.
But the first thing to understand is that is a "responsive design" website. That means it redraws itself in different dimensions, depending on the device (and size of screen) used by the visitor.
Everyone uses the same website, there is no "mobile" version. But we sneakily keep track of what devices people use when visiting.
For instance, on any given day we know that 35% of our visitors are using a mobile device of some sort. That includes cellphones, smartphones and tablets. Pretty much anything other than a computer.
Among that group of people, here's what we know:
- 38% are using an iPhone
- 35% are using an iPad
Not surprisingly, those are Nos. 1 and 2 on our list, accounting for 73% of our mobile visits. Here's No. 3:
- 3% are using a Samsung Galaxy SIII
That's the only Android device in our top 10. No. 7 is the iPod (1%) and you have to go all the way to No. 9 to find the BlackBerry Playbook (0.78%).
The Windows phones are somewhere south of there.
But, to be clear, our website works equally well on any of these devices. And I'm sure that whatever device you have chosen, it has attributes that make it perfect for you.
But right now, I'm in love with the iPhone.
