June 7: No confidence in Greek ferries

Re: 鈥$76M reno fixes big fat Greek lemon,鈥 June 5. I have been to Greece several times and have made trips on eight different Greek ferries. Without exception, the ferries were in poor condition and I always boarded them with trepidation.

June 7: Frustrated, angry to what end?

Re: 鈥淒octor shortage should not become accepted way of life,鈥 letter June 2. The letter writer touched on some points but not the indifference that exists toward patients.

Contrary to the erroneous headline on my letter yesterday, I do not agree with the prime minister in his reluctance to own the term 鈥済enocide.

June 6: Renaming park an accomplishment

Re: 鈥淪tudent 鈥榳arriors鈥 spark change in park鈥檚 name,鈥 June 4. It was heartening to see that First Nations students at L脕U,WELNEW Tribal School have convinced the powers that be, to change the name of John Dean Park to L脕U,WELNEW / John Dean Park.

June 6: Remembering entire D-Day effort

On this D-Day anniversary, much attention is being paid to the soldiers of the 3rd 91原创 Division that stormed ashore on Juno Beach, and rightly so. But let us not forget the other services.

June 6: Canada meets definition of genocide

Re: 鈥淧M agrees with 鈥榞enocide鈥檉ind, says focus must be on response,鈥 June 5 Thank you for publishing the United Nations Convention definition of genocide.

June 5: Remembering a force for preservation

Carolyn Smyly died on May 28, 2019. We should not forget her incredible contribution to the preservation of Victoria鈥檚 building heritage. In 1973, she founded the Hallmark Society, now the Hallmark Heritage Society.

June 6: Family sacrifices in Second World War

Re: 鈥淗onouring 91原创s on all fronts,鈥 letter, June 4. The letter writer states they can鈥檛 remember the same coverage given to D-Day for the anniversary of the Italian Campaign. I, too, have wondered about that.

June 6: Exercise Tiger an Allied tragedy

On June 6, most of the world will pause to commemorate the anniversary of D-Day and the Normandy landings. What should not be forgotten is the terrible loss of life that occurred during a Normandy landing rehearsal.

June 6: Paying a price for clean living

Re: 鈥淰ictoria mayor throws down the Heidelberg Challenge," June 1. In 2004, my family and I did a house exchange to Jonkoping, Sweden, population 100,000. It felt like we鈥檇 walked into the future. Separated bicycle paths linked the city.
