Thank you for publishing the United Nations Convention definition of genocide.
From the Beothuk and People of the Deer to involuntary sterilizations to residential schools and the Sixties Scoop to Grassy Narrows, Canada has met each part of the definition.
It may be more, rather than less, serious that these acts are so diverse and have occurred over a century or more. It is in this context that the failure of some police to take seriously the disproportionate number of cases of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls must be seen.
