Don鈥檛 blame violence on mental health

Re: 鈥淚 have a right to feel unsafe,鈥 letter, Feb. 16. With sensitive regard for the 鈥渞ight鈥 to feel unsafe on the part of the writer, I am appalled at the correlation of people who have mental-health issues with rare acts of violence in Victoria.

Tax form is easy to聽fill聽out

The other day, I received my Speculation and Vacancy Tax form in the mail. It took a whole seven minutes for my wife and me to submit the information, only slightly longer than it took to write this letter.

Watershed protection should take priority

Re: 鈥淧anel throws cold water on Malahat detour idea,鈥 Feb. 21. Kudos to Capital Regional District directors for taking their stance. A detour road through the watershed area would add unnecessary risks to water that 380,000-plus depend on.

Big trees equal a聽forest of saplings

Re: 鈥淪eeing the forest for the trees in urban planning,鈥 comment, Feb. 10. Todd Litman is mistaken when he says: 鈥淚f we want a healthy urban forest, we must plant more trees than are lost each year.鈥 If only it were that simple.
