Re: 鈥淥verdose crisis presents more dilemmas,鈥 editorial, May 3. This editorial should be required reading for our political leaders. According to the B.C. Coroners Service, there were almost 4,000 illicit-drug overdose deaths in B.C.

Re: 鈥淕ender-issues talk in Oak Bay cut short as protests break out amid packed crowd,鈥 May 3. Catcalls, drumming, chanting, noisemakers, shouting matches. 鈥淭his is what the wall of resistance looks like. There is no room for hate.

Re: 鈥淣anaimo goes Green in federal byelection,鈥 May 7. In a stunning development, the Green Party has won the Nanaimo-Ladysmith byelection, giving the Greens their second seat in the House of Commons. The polls this time seem to have got it right.

Unco-ordinated traffic lights drive frustration Going north on Blanshard Street from James Bay, while travelling at the speed limit, I encountered 10 red lights between Courtney Street and Saanich Road.

May 5: Does logging play a聽part in closure?

Re: 鈥淛uan de Fuca trail closure 鈥榟orrible鈥 for businesses,鈥 May 2. I find it more horrible that B.C. Timber Sales is logging adjacent to the Juan de Fuca trail. Perhaps the trail is being kept closed by B.C.
