Dear Dr. Roach: I am a 59-year-old woman. I weigh 116 pounds and am 5 feet, 3聽inches tall. Before I go to the office, I am at the gym four or five mornings a week, working out for an hour. My focus is on weight-bearing exercise.

Dear Dr. Roach: My mother passed away at age 81, just a short time before Christmas. Advanced dementia appeared to be the culprit.

Dear Dr. Roach: I have questions regarding sugar substitutes. I have come to the overwhelming conclusion that sugar is a poison to the human body. However, I have never read any information regarding the safety of sugar substitutes.

Dear Dr. Roach: I recently was diagnosed with A-fib and am taking metoprolol. My cardiologist also wants me on Xarelto, which is a blood thinner.

Dear Dr. Roach: I have had leg cramps for about 32 years while I have engaged in an active lifestyle. I was a jogger for some years, and now I work out at the gym. I am in my late 60s and have found that the leg cramps have gotten worse.

Dear Dr. Roach: I am 50 years old. In the past three months there have been indicators that I am perimenopausal. I have a very large fibroid. It is described as 鈥渟ix months鈥� in size. I am not a candidate for embolization.

Dear Dr. Roach: My married daughter, now 52 years of age, has for the past two years become psychotic and is on antipsychotic medication. She makes a humming sound, which seems to be involuntary and over which she has no control.

Dear Dr. Roach: I read your response regarding CT versus MRI scans. I have severe pain in my right hip, on the outside, radiating to my right foot. It is a hot, burning pain, hampering activity.

Dear Dr. Roach: I am 69. Two years ago, I had a heart attack followed by double bypass surgery. Two vessels on the back of my heart were blocked. I had no symptoms. My doctor, family, friends and I were stunned.

Dear Dr. Roach: My question is about my sister, who is 66 years old with aortic disease and has had four aneurisms: an ascending aneurism 4.5 x 4.6 cm, a descending at 4.2 x 4.7cm, and also an abdominal at 2.4聽x 3.2 and another just at 2 cm.
