Dear Dr. Roach: I am a 60-year-old female who is 5聽feet, 3 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds. For the past 10 years, I have not exercised because of arthritis in the knees. I have owned a stationary bicycle for years.

Dear Dr. Roach: For several years, when I have had blood drawn it has shown an elevation in the alkaline phosphatase. It has been as high as 377 in recent tests. I have had the test to see if it was from the liver, but it was all right.

Dear Dr. Roach: The problem of nonallergic rhinitis apparently affects a lot of people, yet I cannot recall seeing it mentioned in your column. In our case, my wife has had sinus problems for almost 20 years.

Dear Dr. Roach: A recent column mentioned statin drugs and their effect on women. In August 2008, my internist said studies had shown that statin drugs for diabetics promoted heart health. At the time, my A1c was 5.

Dear Dr. Roach: I am a 56-year-old white woman with a medical dilemma that is putting a terrible strain on my marriage. I had a full hysterectomy, which included the removal of my ovaries, four years ago due to many large fibroids.

Dear Dr. Roach: Why do people snicker when I tell them I have RLS? They wouldn鈥檛 laugh if they knew the amount of sleep deprivation I have endured during the 20 years it took to diagnose it.
