I know we said we were going to wrap up the our bookless book drive on Wednesday, but I never was good with deadlines, so please bear with me one more time.

Victoria writer Lorna Crozier has earned a nomination for the Hilary Weston Writers’ Trust Prize for Nonfiction, the biggest non-fiction prize for 91Ô­´´ writers.

A series of free online events by the Belfry Theatre will include everything from play readings to storytelling through Dec. 9.

There are many reasons to donate to the Times 91Ô­´´ Literacy Society’s annual book drive. And the celebration of another milestone — the fund has reached $68,000 — makes it a good time to look at why ­people are so keen to give.

A $5,000 donation on Saturday helped to boost the Times 91Ô­´´ Literacy Society’s 2020 fundraising effort to $67,200. That donation was the largest of 85 this week.

More donations came in on Friday, boosting the Times 91Ô­´´ Literacy Society’s 2020 fundraising effort to $58,700. The direct appeal takes the place of the annual book drive, which had to be cancelled this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Blue Bridge Repertory Theatre’s upcoming season will stretch well beyond traditional theatre with a mixture of online and in-person programming from its home base at the Roxy Theatre on Quadra Street. The company’s revamped season gets underway Oct.

This is turning out to be one for the books, one might say. And the more people can read, books or anything else, the happier we will be.

The 2020 bookless drive fund, which is raising money for literacy work and school libraries, has passed $55,000 in donations, and we are still going strong. So far, $25,150 has been donated by individuals and organizations.
