One of the deaths was in the Island Health region, where 212 people with COVID have died since the start of the pandemic.

B.C. reported 597 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, including 113 in Island Health. Of the 612 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in B.C., 102 were in intensive care. Nine new COVID-related deaths were reported, none in the Island Health region.

New two-dose Novavax vaccine to be available in B.C. within 10 days, Dr. Bonnie Henry says, and supplies of treatments for those who test positive for COVID-19 have increased.

The number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 in B.C. continued its gradual decline with 733 patients on Friday, down from 744 the day before.
