B.C. reported 597 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, including 113 in Island Health.

Of the 612 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in B.C., 102 were in intensive care.

Nine new COVID-related deaths were reported, none in the Island Health region.

Provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said this week that while large-scale vaccination clinics are winding down, adults will still be able to get any of the COVID vaccines through pharmacies.

Health authority clinics will continue to focus on getting children age 5-11 vaccinated, an age group in which the uptake has not been as high.

Health facility outbreaks remained at 29 on Thursday, more than half in Island Health.

The province reported 15 ongoing outbreaks in long-term care homes on the Island: Wexford Creek, Sidney Care Home, Eden Gardens, Kiwanis Village Lodge, Salvation Army Sunset Lodge, Sunset Lodge, Amica on the Gorge, Selkirk Seniors Village, Sunridge Place, Nanaimo Seniors Village, Sluggett House, Glacier View Lodge, Rest Haven Lodge, Sidney All Care and The Heights at Mt. View.
