Sunday will be World TB Day. We are so easily numbed by the many terrible events and ongoing disasters in the world today that it is easy to forget about the constant, everyday suffering of so many of our fellow citizens from tuberculosis.

Re: 鈥淪aanich resident scares off cougar after it attacks deer,鈥� March聽19. Regarding the Saanich resident who scared a cougar off a deer, I have to say the action was misguided.

Re: 鈥淣ational pharmacare could hurt patients more than it helps,鈥� comment, March 17. Kristina Acri from the right-wing Fraser Institute claims that pharmacare would hurt more patients than it helps. She provides no numbers to support her claim.

Re: 鈥淲hat to do when face-to-face with a cougar,鈥� March 20. An anecdotal and probably unique story might help those with a similar situation achieve a happy outcome.

It was 75 years ago, on the night and into the early morning of March 24-25, 1944, that 76 Allied air force officers crawled through a narrow tunnel and escaped a Nazi PoW camp in Germany.
