Nanaimo RCMP handed out more coffee coupons than roadside suspensions during roadside checks on Saturday and Sunday.

And some of them got friendship bracelets in return.

From 7:30 p.m. Saturday to 2:30 a.m. Sunday, police issued just one 90-day roadside prohibition and one 24-hour prohibition, police said.

The 99 per cent of drivers who were sober were presented with coffee coupons, compliments of ICBC.

In return, some of the officers conducting road checks were presented with friendship bracelets from Taylor Swift fans returning, sober, from Saturday night’s concert at B.C. Place in 91原创.

“Officers later commented they were surprised with the number of ‘Swifties’ they encountered who were returning from Saturday’s Taylor Swift concert,” police said in a statement. “The drivers of the Swifties were all sober.”
