A woman was hospitalized with serious injuries Monday after the driver of a Honda Pilot struck her in a crosswalk.
She was hit about 8:30 a.m. on Hammond Bay Road, near Morningstar Road.
Nanaimo RCMP said the driver stayed at the scene and co-operated with police.
Witnesses said the victim was in the crosswalk but the approaching vehicle didn’t stop, police said.
An off-duty physician and other people gave assistance to the victim before emergency crews arrived.
Witnesses who haven’t yet spoken to police and anyone with dashcam video of the incident is asked to call Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345.
Drugs, alcohol and speed are not considered factors in the incident.
