British Columbia has recorded 32 deaths related to COVID-19 over the last three days, including five in the Island Health region.
The Health Ministry said 14 of the fatalities were in the 91原创 Coastal Health region alone, with the total death toll in the province now reaching 2,707.
It said 3,287 more cases of the virus had been diagnosed since Friday, though officials have said limitations on testing capacity mean daily counts are expected to be higher.
A total of 478 new cases were confirmed in Island Health, where there are 1,174 known active cases.
There are 23,739 active cases in the province.
Nearly 91 per cent of adults have received their second dose of a vaccine, and the ministry said almost 53 per cent of residents have had a third shot.
There were 987 people in hospital with COVID-19, down from more than 1,000 last week, the ministry said. Of those, 141 are in intensive care.
It said that in the past two weeks, over 68 per cent of hospitalized patients who tested positive for COVID-19 had been fully vaccinated.
A total of 57 long-term care, assisted living and acute-care facilities have outbreaks across all five health authorities in the province. Twenty-three of those are in Island Health, which also has outbreaks at Victoria General, Nanaimo Regional General Hospital and Cowichan District Hospital.
New outbreaks were reported at Sunridge Place in Duncan, Island View Place in Saanichton, Nanaimo Seniors Village, Sluggett House in Brentwood Bay and Glacier View Lodge in Courtenay.
Outbreaks have been declared over at the Summit long-term care home in Victoria (11 residents), Eagle Ridge Manor long-term care home in Port Hardy (11 residents), Fir Park Village long-term care home in Port Alberni (13 residents and five staff), Saanich Peninsula Hospital long-term care units (40 residents), and Glenwarren Lodge long-term care home in Victoria (26 residents and 21 staff).
