Celebrate what makes Saltspring Island a vibrant and inclusive place at the fifth annual Saltspring Pride Festival, hosted by the Gays and Lesbians of Saltspring Island.
The three-day event is the third-largest pride festival in B.C. The weekend begins Friday at 5 p.m. with a meet-and-greet, followed by a panel discussion at 7 p.m.
A parade takes place on Saturday, with hundreds of marchers walking, biking, rollerblading and dancing their way through the village of Ganges. That's followed by a pedestrian-only street party on McPhillips Avenue, with aerial dance performers, guest speakers and music.
The parade starts at 1 p.m. and the street party runs from 2 to 4 p.m.
A dance takes place at the Fulford Community Hall at 7: 30 p.m.
You can also attend a Unitarian Pride Service at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Saltspring Seniors Drop-In Centre, 379 Lower Ganges Rd.
A pride picnic and potluck runs 1 to 6 p.m. at Group Site 3 at Ruckle Provincial Park.
Enjoy outdoor music from 3 p.m. at Salt Spring Vineyard, 151 Lee Rd.
