Dear Dr. Roach: Years ago, I went to a doctor for sinus problems. He put a drainage hole in my ear. For a while, everything was fine. But now, I hear people talking to me. They say they are hooked up to my head.

How many of us would like to live like a hermit? I doubt that many would decide to give up the comfort and pleasures of civilization. But we pay an increasing price for comfort.

Dear Dr. Roach: There was an article in your column on the fact that you don鈥檛 recommend alprazolam as a long-term sleep aid. It has been recommended to me. What are the consequences of long-term use? A.T.

Dear Dr. Roach: I am a 78-year-old woman. In August 2015, I had my gallbladder removed through a laparoscopic procedure. In January this year, I was having the same symptoms I had before my gallbladder surgery.
