The launch of the Victoria Ismaili Seniors Centre (an extension of centres across Canada organized by Ismaili volunteers), is an opportunity for community members to engage in wellness initiatives that allow them to age gracefully together as part of a community, while experiencing a strong sense of belonging.聽

What if softness and tenderness were seen as virtues? What if rather than being encouraged to present ourselves to the world as impenetrable walls, we saw kindness and tenderness and vulnerability as virtues to aspire toward? How different might your everyday interactions be?

Be kind. Your kindness here and online will spread around the world and give us all hope and strength to make it through these challenging times.

In the harried beat of our hectic lives, we do precious little self-accompanying. Learning to name and embrace the work of listening and accompanying oneself is graciously giving ourselves the attentive care we need.

Perfectionism has a way of preventing us from seeing a broader, deeper meaning of failure

The fleeting pleasure thinking about gentleness brought me, if only for a moment, was a comfort and a release from the decidedly un-gentle world we seem to live in right now.

Despite all the cynicism around crises we are facing as a society, we still have the freedom to act. We can build one another up in love. We can work together to end injustice.

An estimated 150 people attended the debut concert of Kvell鈥檚 Angels on Oct. 1 at the University of Victoria鈥檚 Means Centre for Learning in the McPherson Library. In 鈥淎 Trampled Manuscripts Concert: The Lost Klezmer Music of the An-ski Expeditions,鈥� the local quartet introduced to Victoria 14 of some 1,400 klezmer tunes that had been unseen for more than a century.

Seniors are invited join us for an enriching series of Jewish Lutheran Dialogue. This two-part interfaith exchange will be an opportunity for participants to engage in dialogue and learn from each other as well as from our speakers.

Quakers discovered that worship in silence opened their hearts and minds to inward direct experiences of a divine-human friendship, which can expand into a mutual longing for the welfare of the world.
