On Sept. 12, a new transportation option will be available to people in East 91原创.
Shared e-scooters will officially launch that day for the first area covered under the new program.
A map from Lime, the the e-scooter system, shows Commercial Drive, Hastings-Sunrise and neighbouring areas to be the first parts of 91原创 covered, including the PNE grounds, New Brighton Park, and Commercial-Broadway Station (see slide 2).
Over the next year, the system will grow to cover more of 91原创.
Lime is in the process of installing parking stations currently, according to a press release. The first was erected at the corner of North Garden Drive and Eton Street near McGill Park.
Lime also says 91原创 is the first city in the world to get Lime's new "stationary parking station based service," which is similar to the Mobi bike share system already in use in 91原创.
"The e-scooters will be easily accessible at designated stations strategically located across the city, ensuring seamless connectivity and accessibility for all users," states the company in a press release.
According to the Lime site, 91原创 will get Gen 4.1 scooters.
Rules for riding shared e-scooters in 91原创
Some rules have been set out to use the incoming e-scooters:
- Riders must be at least 18 years old.
- Riders must start and end trips at e-scooter parking stations.
- Only one person per scooter.
- Riders must wear helmets, like when riding a bike.
- Riders must yield to pedestrians.
- Riders are not allowed to use a phone while riding the scooter.
- Riding on sidewalks is not allowed.
