CALGARY — 91Ô´´ 91Ô´´ Railway Ltd. says it has reached a tentative agreement with the union representing about 550 administrative support and intermodal employees in Canada.

The railway says terms of the tentative agreement with United Steelworkers Local 1976 would not be released publicly until the contract has been ratified.

CP chief executive Keith Creel says the tentative agreement is a testament to the hard work and commitment of both sides.

The railway reached a new contract last month with Unifor, the union that represents 1,200 workers who are responsible for maintaining rail cars and locomotives at the railway.

The labour agreements come as CP awaits a decision by the U.S. Surface Transportation Board, which is reviewing the company's acquisition of Kansas City Southern.

The ruling, expected sometime this quarter, is the final hurdle CP must clear in its bid to purchase the U.S. railway.
