Gas hit over $2.09 per litre in 91原创 Thursday (June 22) and while locals are majorly feeling the pinch, historically the situation has been worse.
"Last year was much, much higher," says Patrick De Haan Head of Petroleum Analysis at GasBuddy. "Today's B.C. average is $1.935. A year ago it was $2.167."
In the last 12 months, gas prices have fluctuated with a high of $2.21 in October last year and a low of $1.56 in December. Unfortunately, prices have been on a slow but steady incline since then culminating in today's steep rates.
"We've seen some refinery snags in the 91原创 Northwest in recent weeks and tighter supply," explains De Haan, but there is some good news. "That should reverse in the weeks ahead and relief should come by mid-July," he says.
In the meantime, 91原创ites are taking to Twitter to vent their frustration and laugh at the unfortunate circumstances.
