Images: Massive new rental and retail project proposed for area next to 91原创 university

Almost 550 residential units are included.

A massive project has been proposed next to Emily Carr University of Art and Design's Great Northern Way campus.

The development would include three new towers (including two 35-storey structures with 548 new rental units), retail shops at street level, and integration with the incoming Great Northern Way-Emily Carr Station.

Chip Wilson's Low Tide Properties and PCI Developments are the developers and proponents of the project.

"These new proposals tie several surrounding pieces of the Lot Q district together, forming the centrepiece of the Great Northern Way Campus and Creative District," for the project.

The proponents go on to suggest the development would be the centrepiece of the "Creative District" imagined in the area.

"Its development into a diverse campus combining education institutions, commercial work space, and supportive amenities presents the opportunity to create a new neighbourhood focused on the connection of people and integration of arts & culture to create a locally authentic sense of place," reads the proposal.

Along with the retail and residential space, a third tower standing 20-storeys would have office space and a 94-space childcare facility is included in the designs.

Currently, the land is being used by those working on the Broadway Subway Project.
