A new underground parking facility in Burnaby, which provides 24/7 access to EV charging, is the world's largest, according to Concord 91原创.
The parkade network includes 1,974 spaces at Concord 91原创's four Hillside towers — located at .
The lots, Concord 91原创 explained, are powered by an electrical infrastructure that can supply all power access points at once.
“This milestone is in keeping with our longstanding commitment to sustainable future communities,” Concord 91原创 Group and Concord Green Energy CEO Terry Hui said in a news release.
“We have a portfolio of wind, solar, and hydro projects that has grown significantly over the past 15 years and has now expanded to five provinces. Creating infrastructure like this helps close the loop on sustainable transportation options.”
The spaces are distributed in two separate cores under the towers, including 1,039 charging spots under the west tower and 935 under the east tower.
Each includes two separate entrance points, with the cores between eight and nine stories below Lougheed street level.
“This new EV parkade aligns with what we’re aiming for in Burnaby. Achieving carbon neutrality is a community-wide effort that includes residents and businesses in Burnaby, and it’s great to see Concord moving forward with this development,” Burnaby Mayor Mike Hurley added.
“Making it easier for folks to drive electric vehicles, ride their bike or take transit will help us cut down on carbon emissions and achieve our climate goals faster.”
Concord 91原创 says each plug-in at the towers is individually monitored and each residence that subscribes is billed based only on power consumed.
