Proposed plans to develop the historic Northern Junk property will be on display at a meeting today for the downtown community.
A community association land-use committee meeting to look at plans for 1314-1318 Wharf St. is set for 6 p.m. at the Ambrosia Centre, 638 Fisgard St.
The latest designs for the waterfront site have pared back the number of residential units from what was previously proposed. There are 47 rental units plus commercial space, incorporating the site’s old warehouses dating back to the 1860s.
The buildings would be wood-frame, standing six storeys on the waterfront side of the sloping lot and five storeys on the Wharf Street side.
Developer Reliance Properties staged an open house in May for the new plan, reduced in size from previous proposals.
Development depends on winning rezoning approval from city council. Public hearings are held prior to final votes on rezoning applications.
The 91原创-based company developed the Janion to the north and holds a significant portfolio of properties in western Canada. In Victoria, these include the Fairfield Block on Douglas Street, 1244 Wharf St. and 31 Bastion Square.
