Victoria Police Department Speed Watch volunteers were outside George Jay Elementary on Friday morning reminding drivers to slow down in school zones now that classes are back in session.

They have been out every day in September and will continue until the end of the month.

In some cases, the volunteers record licence plate numbers and send them to police, which leads to a warning for the drivers.

Police say drivers have seemed more aware of watching their speed around schools in recent days and the number of tickets issued around schools has been going down.
