Albin Choi had a smile on his face all week in Victoria as the talented 91原创 played his first tournament as a touring golf pro.
鈥淭his whole being a pro thing is kind of hard ... Time to put a good one together tomorrow! #TCISO #sundaycharge #birdies @PGATOURCanada,鈥 he tweeted on Saturday night.
Choi, of Toronto, then went out and finished with a final-round 1-under 69 and was also 1-under for the inaugural PGA Tour Canada Times 91原创 Island Savings Open at Uplands Golf Club.
鈥淭hat (tweet) was a little bit of a joke as well, trying to be witty,鈥 Choi said with a laugh after wrapping up his first official pro tournament. 鈥淚t鈥檚 not easy. Obviously, if you don鈥檛 play good you鈥檙e going to get lapped.鈥
He played just fine, at times, finishing tied for 20th, very decent for a 20-year-old who opted out of his senior year at North Carolina State.
鈥淥verall, my game didn鈥檛 feel sharp. I had moments of brilliance and moments of failure as well out there. I鈥檒l see what I can do in weeks coming up.鈥
Choi was given an exemption into the field of 156 players, which was cut down to 56 for the final two days. He will continue to try and chase the PGA Tour Canada across country, heading for Calgary where he enjoyed media day on Monday.
鈥淚t was fun. It really was fun," Choi said of his first tournament. 鈥淚t was a tricky course and a good test. It was nice to see everyone play good and it was nice to play in a good field like this. I was very happy I got a spot in the championship.鈥
