Food served on Via Rail's 91原创 to Toronto train, The 91原创, during a trip in January. Some of the photos are a little blurry because I was shooting with an iPhone (have not completely read the instructions yet), the train was sometimes rocking a lot, and I was anxious to start eating. Plus, I didn't want to attract attention by shooting and shooting until I got a shot that was in focus.
A big part of the cross-country train experience is the food, served during meals that stretch to over an hour, as you slowly eat, drink, enjoy the scenery and chat with fellow passengers.
A breakfast omelette, with fried shredded potato and fruit.

Shrimp and scallops, with Saskatoon berry chutney and a scoop of potato salad at lunch. I had a little trouble removing the seafood from the skewers in an elegant way while chatting.

Turkey, bacon, Brie, apple and spinach open-face sandwich. I am told the Brie was especially good.

Strawberry shortcake at lunch. Three courses were offered at lunch and dinner.

Salad served at dinner.

Duck breast with roast potatoes, carrots and zucchini. Described as crispy on the menu, likely referring to the skin. But the skin wasn't crispy and the meat was a little tough. The only modest food disappointment in the trip's 11 meals.

Rack of lamb, with mint and balsamic vinegar sauce, roast potatoes, carrots and zucchini. It won praise.

Chocolate cake served at dinner. Our table was charmed by the Via flourish.

Cheesecake served at dinner. Fruit salad was also an option.
