Time to privatize insurance business

Clearly, it is high time to take the basic insurance business out of Insurance Corp. of B.C. and public coffers, and into the private sector. The government and unions will have us believe that privatizing will decrease traffic safety.

Clearly, it is high time to take the basic insurance business out of Insurance Corp. of B.C. and public coffers, and into the private sector.

The government and unions will have us believe that privatizing will decrease traffic safety. Poppycock! We've seen ICBC rake in the dollars with little focus on driver education.

For example, why do we not have mandatory driver education for new drivers? ICBC simply raises fees and focuses on penalization.

ICBC has been nothing more than another way to rob the taxpayer and reward bad behaviour. It's time to put an end to this greed.

Private insurance is nothing new; our neighbouring provinces (and countries) have it and it's working quite well. Good drivers are rewarded and bad drivers pay higher premiums.

Perhaps some of the excess ICBC managers soon to be out of jobs can open their own insurance businesses and see what it's like to actually work for a living in a competitive market.
