Paulson deserved wedding honour guard

It is rather unfortunate that some bureaucrat sought to besmirch Bob Paulson, the newly appointed commissioner of the RCMP, for the simple matter of his having an RCMP honour guard attend at his recent wedding.

When one thinks of the responsibility of his office and the position he holds as the head of Canada's national police service, it is pure trivia to suggest he is not entitled to such an honour at public expense.

This is especially true when one takes into account the thousands of hours consumed each year at public expense by serving members, who are required by their political masters to attend scripted political and public events across Canada, none of which contributes to the betterment of policing but are solely for the purpose of ceremonial display.
