Re: “Coast Guard’s newest ship dented in crash at Ogden Point breakwater,” March 23.
I read the coverage of our newest coast guard ship in the “crash with breakwater.”
Crash incidents have been described as: we “nudged a rock,” or we “found poor fenders,” or we “set upon a gentle gravel bar,” or we “made regular landing, hard,” or we “made stop, quickly,” or we “snagged over it,” or we “stopped up, upon something,” or we “need stronger propellers.”
Fortunately in this incident, it appears nobody got harmed, only feathers got ruffled and no critters were oiled.
Money will fix the hull, rudder, propeller, engine controls and pride.
“Ship happens.”
