Re: “Bay St. Bridge partial closing starts May 21,” May 15.
I was driving down Craigflower Road near Gorge Vale Golf Club and noticed the newly installed signs telling drivers to use an alternate route because of the Bay Street Bridge construction and closure (May 21 to Oct. ?). Within hours, other signs were placed on Tillicum Road warning of construction delays (May 21 to June 7).
If the Gorge-Tillicum bridge isn’t the most obvious alternate route for the Bay Street closure, what is? The Johnson Street Bridge still has approach construction areas, Wharf Street has major lane construction and tourist season is upon us, adding to congestion downtown.
Craigflower Bridge? Admirals/McKenzie construction. And who knows what View Royal has in store for the Old Island Highway? All these projects are important and time-sensitive, but come on, guys.
Is there anybody in charge or do they just not give a damn? Amalgamation? (Not with the Queen of Bikes, thank you.) Co-ordination between the fiefdoms and the Capital Regional District? Priceless.
