Re: “Critics want Oak Bay to cancel talk by controversial speaker,” April 30.
It is ironic that while criticizing an opponent of B.C.’s sexual-orientation and gender-identity policy in schools, the designation of LGBTQ excludes the two-spirited gender of First Nations culture.
Although some people confuse bi-sexuals with two-spirited persons, they are distinct.
In First Nations culture, two-spirited people represent a third gender, in which people embrace both genders by doing things such as wearing male and female clothes.
The exclusion of the 2 in what should have been LGBTQ2 is a regrettable deletion.
