June 4: Drinking and driving case draws concern

While I hope the facts turn out otherwise, it is more than disturbing to read how police treated Lee Anne Lowrie, in carrying out an investigation into drinking and driving.

Among most concerning was the following: Police phone a woman at a residence claiming they have a personal issue to discuss with her, then five officers show up, yes, five! It concerned a report that she had been seen drinking, then driving.

Police provided false evidence, claiming she did not ask for a second sobriety check and that her speech was slurred. Thankfully, there was a video backing up the woman’s claims.

Lowrie also pointed out she had a few drinks after driving to the house where the police attended.

At this point, she said she felt like we’re guilty until proven innocent.

Hopefully, there is more to this story which backs the police. But, this smells rotten.

To think our police may be acting under the impression that such tactics are allowed is more than reprehensible.

And, if the woman did not have video supporting her, what defence would she have?
