Congratulations to the Victoria Symphony and Tania Miller for a fine, varied program introducing novel compositions as well as old favourites and other great music. But the experience was marred by adults exhibiting selfishness and great discourtesy.

Twenty-three consecutive years of Splash concerts and I have attended many of them, but this may be my last. It is acceptable that young children will get bored after a time and run a little wild, and teenagers may forget their manners in the exuberance of the moment.

But it was the adults who exhibited such bad behaviour as to destroy one's enjoyment. Many would stand chatting with their backs to the stage; others were constantly talking, even if sitting, which drowned out the performances and the discourse between the items on the program.

Come on, Victoria. If you don't want to benefit from the wonderful event that our city puts on, then don't go there and spoil it for others.
