I’m afraid View Royal Mayor David Screech has had his head in the sand on this one. For years, chartered banks have had procedures in place to detect money laundering, and in view of recent newsworthy developments, the procedures won’t be going away any time soon. In fact, they have undoubtedly intensified. It is called due diligence.
As with most “policies and procedures,” they are meant to protect and steward. Unless they were unduly rude to him, he should not be expecting “a genuine apology” from the bank in question.
