Re: “B.C. trees could rebuild Notre Dame,” letter, April 21.
For me, the vast majority of media coverage is overwhelmingly depressing. Carnage, never-ending wars, bloodshed, mass global starvation, insatiable greed by some for money and power, the destruction of our planet that sustains us all.
These ongoing events will be forever etched in my mind as the world’s heartbreaking catastrophes, not a partially burned building, no matter its historical significance. And yes, I have been to Notre Dame and witnessed its beauty, and yes, it will be repaired, with all of the accompanying pomp and ceremony.
Can we say the same for our planet? Let’s put things in perspective, shall we?
