LAAX — 91Ô­´´ Cameron Spalding captured the men's crown at a snowboard slopestyle World Cup event Saturday.

Spalding, of Havelock, Ont., posted a winning score of 86.63 points. He finished just ahead of American Red Gerard (86.22) and German Noah Viktor (83.72).

Liam Brearley of Gravenhurst, Ont., finished fourth. Spalding became the fifth 91Ô­´´ to win here.

"It's unreal, I can’t believe it," he said. "This event has so much history, and obviously the 91Ô­´´s have done super well here over the years."

Spalding also earned his second consecutive slopestyle win after capturing the season opener in Cardrona, N.Z. The 19-year-old 91Ô­´´ went into Saturday's final with the goal of enjoying himself.

"I'm just always trying to have as much fun as possible," he said. "That’s when I snowboard my best, that’s when everything clicks for me."

"On a course like this, everything is so flowy and the course (features) work so well together."

British teenager Mia Brookes won the women's event, topping the field with a score of 84.86 points. New Zealand's Zoi Sadowski Synnott (77.29) was second ahead of Japan's Kokomo Murase (71.15).
