Victoria police arrested a man accused of selling drugs out of a Pandora Avenue motel on Friday.

Officers received information a man was peddling drugs from a suite in the Plaza Hotel at 603 Pandora Ave., said Sgt. Colin Brown. The man also had an outstanding warrant for breaching probation.

About a dozen officers, including members with the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team, raided the suite to make the arrest around 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The man had drugs and drug paraphernalia in plain view and also had a can of bear spray and an expandable police baton, an illegal weapon, within arms reach, Brown said.

The man in his 40s was arrested and hours later, investigators obtained a warrant to search the room and seized 50 grams of crack cocaine, 10 grams of heroin and $500 in cash.

聯It's certainly someone who is a busy street-level dealer,聰 Brown said.

The man, who is known to police, is charged with drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a prohibited weapon and breach of probation.

His name has not yet been released but he聮s expected to have a telebail hearing Saturday afternoon.
