An area in the 1600-block of Oak Bay Avenue was closed off Tuesday afternoon following an unspecified police incident.

Victoria police said only that there was a “sensitive nature” to what happened.

The area of the road closure, at Morrison Street, is near the intersection with Fort Street and Pandora Avenue. There are several apartment buildings in the vicinity, and posts on social media showed police vehicles behind yellow tape.

The Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team was called in to assist, but Victoria police said there was no threat to public safety.

Police said the investigation was in its early stages and no further details were available.
