A elderly man with advanced Alzheimer's was located at the Swartz Bay ferry terminal Saturday evening, a day after he was reported missing.

Sidney RCMP found Frederick Vickers, a 78-year-old from Abbotsford, at the terminal and reunited him with his family.

Vickers was visiting Victoria with his wife and son. On Friday about 4 p.m., Vickers walked away from his downtown hotel.

The family car, a green 2008 Honda CRV, was also missing and Vickers' family was worried he could be trying to drive back home to Abbotsford.

The car was found with Vickers at the ferry terminal.

Sgt. Colin Brown said Vickers' credit card was used in Nanaimo Friday at 9:30 p.m., but the credit card company told police they could not determine the exact location where it was used.

Vickers' wife told police he had never before wandered off.
