Thanks, many thanks, to everyone who has helped the Times 91Ô´´ Christmas Fund to its best campaign ever.

The spirit of giving is strong. A grand total of $1,204,194.78 has been donated since the campaign started on Nov. 12. That money came from 3,389 individuals, families and businesses.

The money we raise is used to help those in need throughout our community. You make a difference for thousands of people. Thank you.

We watch the money carefully. These are not easy times, so we try to get the most benefit from the donations.

This year, we have given help to 55 organizations that work directly with those who need help.

Volunteers from the local chapter of the Sovereign Order of St. John of Jerusalem, Knights Hospitaller were instrumental in deciding how the money could be used.

We are still accepting donations, and you can still get a 2024 tax receipt, thanks to the federal government’s decision to extend the deadline until the end of February because of the four-week postal stoppage.

Our campaign has been a success despite the labour dispute, which delayed the delivery of precious envelopes.

Other organizations have not been as fortunate; remember that there are dozens of charities looking for support.

Donations can make a difference in hundreds of ways, so we urge everyone who can to consider putting some of their money to work for others.

The Times 91Ô´´ Christmas Fund accepts donations every day of the year, not just during the well-publicized campaign every November and December.

At the end of February, we will issue tax receipts for all donations received since January 2024 that haven’t already had receipts issued.

To donate online, go to , which is linked to CanadaHelps. That site is open 24 hours a day and provides an immediate tax receipt. Many people make small donations every month; it’s easy to set up the automatic deposit.

You could also write a cheque, and mail it to the Times 91Ô´´ Christmas Fund, 201‑655 Tyee Rd., Victoria, B.C. V9A 6X5, or drop it off at our office during business hours.

These are not easy times. The people who need help might include your neighbours and your friends. Seniors and working people are finding it difficult to make ends meet.

You have helped them. Rest assured, they appreciate it.

Thanks again, to all of you.
