Central Middle School went into lockdown over the noon hour after a man “exhibiting concerning behaviour” entered the building, police say.
The incident drew a large police response to the school, located at the junction of Fort and Yates streets.
In a Facebook post, one person described 15 to 20 vehicles rushing to Central Middle School on Yates Street just after 12:30 p.m.
Officers found the man in the school library in what appeared to be a drug-induced state. Police used a Taser to subdue him after he resisted arrest, VicPD said.
He was taken into custody within five minutes of police receiving multiple calls. He was medically assessed and remained in VicPD cells on Monday afternoon.
The man was not armed, and no students or staff were injured.
