Saanich police say they have arrested a suspect in a hit-and-run Friday that seriously injured a seven-year-old child near Tillicum Centre.
The incident happened about 12:30 p.m. at the Burnside Road West entrance to the mall.
Police said the child, who was with a parent, was struck by a vehicle as it left the mall parking lot, injuring the child’s leg.
The driver left the scene, heading east on Burnside Road West.
Police had asked for public assistance in locating the female driver involved and announced the arrest about an hour later.
The suspect’s vehicle has been impounded.
