A motorcyclist lost control and crashed in North Saanich Wednesday afternoon, sending his passenger to hospital with a head injury.

A male motorcyclist was driving northbound on the Pat Bay highway when he lost control of his bike on the McTavish Road exit about 11:30 a.m., police said.

Both the driver and the female passenger were thrown from the motorcycle.

The female passenger was taken to Victoria General Hospital with a head injury. Cpl. Erin Fraser of Sidney/North Saanich RCMP said the passenger has since regained consciousness at the hospital.

The male driver suffered minor injuries.

Fraser said speed and alcohol were not thought to be factors in the crash.
