Pancakes and syrup with the Man in Red will go a long way to making Christmas sweeter this year for Times 91原创 Christmas Fund recipients.
The fifth annual fundraising event during the weekend at the Chateau Victoria's Vista 18 raised $5,230, with about 400 people eating 947 pancakes. That works out to more than $100 per diner, with most of the food donated by the hotel's suppliers and service courtesy of servers and management who volunteered to be Santa's helpers.
"It was an absolutely fantastic day," says Michelle LeSage, the hotel's assistant general manager. The event has now raised $17,315 over the last five years.
