Charges have been laid after an investigation that targeted drug-trafficking in the Cowichan Valley and led to the seizure of about 25,000 street-level doses of fentanyl.

Also seized were 3D-printed handguns and more than $240,000 in cash.

Known as Project ENAIANT, the case also involved the Victoria Police Deparment and West Shore RCMP. It included three search warrants being conducted in the Duncan area and one in Sooke in March, which led to seven arrests.

North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP said Thursday that several charges have been approved against James Lamont of Greater Victoria. They include possession of the purpose of trafficking, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, and unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon.

He has been remanded in custody until Friday.

In April, RCMP said Grant Giles, a 38-year-old from the Fraser Valley, had been charged with four counts of trafficking in a controlled substance and failing to comply with a court order in connection with the case.

Police said they were also recommending charges against a 38-year-old woman from the Cowichan area.
