Bad parking leads to further charges

A man driving a scooter that had been reported stolen picked a bad time to flout parking rules - an act that drew the attention of Saanich police officers taking a coffee break.

The officers were at the Tim Hortons at Saanich Centre on Thursday evening when a man parked a Honda Ruckus scooter in a no-parking zone.

Officers knew the man had a number of bail conditions from recent graffiti charges and was not allowed to be at Saanich Centre or to possess markers. He was breaching both conditions.

The scooter was reported stolen from the Fernwood area two weeks ago.

A 30-year-old homeless man has been charged.
