Piano jazzman and smooth blues vocalist Michael Kaeshammer debuts with the Victoria Symphony on Saturday at the Royal Theatre.
He will show off his own uniquely styled Christmas favourites and songs from his latest album Lovelight.
"Victoria is my home and I started my career here, so performing my music with the Victoria Symphony Orchestra means a lot to me. I can't wait," said Kaeshammer, who has received three Juno nominations and won the West Coast Music Awards for both musician of the year and performer of the year.
Conducted by Giuseppe Pietraroia, the concert will include Merry Christmas Baby, I'll Be Home for Christmas, Marshmallow World, and Mary's Little Boy Child along with pop ballad Isabelle. Start is 8 p.m., tickets $12, $35, $45 and going fast. Call 250-386-6121.

And now for something completely different.
If you're tired of Christmas carols, snow scenes and pine-scented candles, Asmira's School of Oriental Bellydance is offering a shake, rattle and belly-roll event starting at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow in the Metro Theatre, 1411 Quadra St.
It's the school's Christmas recital, highlighting a fusion of ballet and oriental dance styles and featuring young teens as well as "mature ladies" wearing colourful veils over their faces and nothing at all on their tummies. Tickets $16 at the door or Lyle's Place, 770 Yates St.
