Runners, volunteers and the public came together during the Times 91原创 10K race weekend for the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.

Almost $8,600 was raised from donations to One Fund Boston through the purchase of stickers and T-shirts.

After the tragic events in Boston on April 15, TC 10K race organizers decided to endorse One Fund Boston, a fund set up to help those injured by the bombings near the marathon finish line.

People in Greater Victoria were encouraged to wear stickers on their race bib or buy T-shirts to show their support. Both items were available by donation at the TC 10K Fitness Expo on the Friday and Saturday leading up to the 10K race on April 28. Donations totalled almost $5,600 for the stickers and $3,000 for the T-shirts.

鈥淭hank you, everyone, who donated to One Fund Boston,鈥 said Jacqui Sanderson, TC 10K race director. 鈥淭his is a great example of runners supporting runners.鈥

More than 12,000 runners and walkers participated this year, continuing to make it the second-largest 10-kilometre run in Canada. This was the 24th annual TC 10K.

One Fund Boston has collected $28 million so far. Stickers and T-shirts are still available at Frontrunners. You can also donate online at onefundboston.org
