With the year 5771 coming up next week in the Jewish lunar calendar, Chabad Lubavitch of 91原创 Island is hosting Victoria's first Jewish New Year Fair.
The celebration of Rosh Hashanah will take place at the Chabad Jewish Education Centre, 3031 Quadra St., tomorrow from noon until 2 p.m.
On hand will be dozens of traditional sheep's horns for carving into shofars and sounding to wake Jews from their spiritual slumber.
Ten varieties of Babe's Honey will symbolize the sweetness hoped for in the new year.
"The idea is to bring the Jewish culture to the entire community," says Rabbi Meir Kaplan, who hopes non-Jewish people will attend.
